The Frustration of the Game
Golf :The most frustrating Game to be played by one person. This definition may not be how everyone feels about the game but it is high on the list of most golfers.
You use a long stick with a off set of metal or wood at the end of it and you attempt to hit a ball 1 1/2 inches off a piece of wood called a tee. Then if you haven't hit the ball into a hazard, tall grass or water your next shot is with another long stick with a curved end. Once you have struck the ball enough times to get it on a surface, known as a green, where you can use a small stick to push the ball into a 3 inch hole.
The score card says you are supposed to do this by only striking the ball 3, 4, or 5 times, depending on the length and difficulty of the Hole. This is what those tricky Scotsman had in mind when they invented the game. However, they did not have the luxury of modern equipment that is suppose to make it easier to accomplish the feat.
There have been rules added and changed, golf courses lengthen , devious minded people have construct new courses in a fiendish way and added hazards that are impossible to extract oneself from. Given all that is it any wonder golf is so frustrating. enjoy better with help from http:// www.improve-golfgame.com.
People who have never played golf can not understand the amount of pleasure golfers get from the game. Me personally, I have said I was going to quit the game on so many occasions I lost track.
So what makes the game so magnetic that we continue to play. Here are some of the wonderful things about the game we have all experience at one time or another if we have played the game for any time.
Your standing on the tee box, you have warmed up by making a few good practice swings, now you stand over the ball and draw back the club slowly and about the time you begin your downward motion something pops in your head and you decide to change your swing just before hitting the ball and "Poof" just like that you top the ball ans it goes twenty yards.
You have just hit the best drive of the day right down the middle of the fairway. The lie is level and the ball is sitting up. you make a couple practice swings you have the ball lined up and as you are taking the club back you change your mind about how hard you want to swing and "Poof" your club digs into the ground and the ball pops up and goes all of thirty yards.
You are five feet in back of the water hazard on a good line to the green. You have a short 80 yards to the green an a wedge in hand. you have made this shot many times. As you bring the club down you decide to dip your shoulder and the club face goes under the ball popping it up and "Poof" it goes in the water.
you chipped to within 10 feet of the pin and have a straight in putt for birdie. Your opponent has a putt of some 50 feet down hill snaking to the right. Somehow he makes his putt center cutting the cup. you line up your putt and just as you strike the putter to the ball you turn your wrist and the putt goes three feet by.
You are on the green and thirty feet from the pin, you hit your putt and it meanders to the hole and just when you think it is going in it stops on the edge. The wind could blow it in but it is blowing from the other direction.
My favorite: i have a ten foot up hill putt that looks as if i can't miss. I line it up and strike the ball and it goes in and out of the cup and comes back to look at me as if it is laughing at me. The dreaded horseshoe putt. Okay but for one thing, it sets the trend for the rest of the match and I so it two or three more times.
When you throw in the hooks and the slices and all the rest of the mistakes is it any wonder when we finish the round we either want to quit the game or have a stiff drink.
